Mir Arab Madrasah
The architectural complex Poi-Kalon in Bukhara consists of Miri Arab Madrasah and Kalon mosque.
Madrasah Miri Arab was constructed in front of Kalon mosque and is one of the most respected spiritual places among Islamic educational schools.
It was erected in the 16th century during the Sheybanid period. Trophies gained by Ubaidulla Khan served as finance for the construction of the madrasah.
In its architecture, Miri Arab madrasah was built in the traditional style.
The four-angled courtyard has four aivans and two-story hudjurs around it.
At the center of the burial vault on top, there is a gravestone of Ubaidulla Khan made from wood. The Tomb of Miri-Arab is at the head of the gravestone.
The decoration of the Miri Arab madrasah embodies carved mosaic with colored stylized ornament.
Nowadays, the madrasah functions as a spiritual school.
