Memorial Complex of Bakhauddin Nakshbandi

The complex was located not far away from Bukhara and named in honor of one of its patrons, Sheikh Bakhauddin Nakshbandi.
Bakhauddin Nakshbandi was born in Kasri Orifon village. Sheikh received spiritual dedication from Hodja Gijduvoni, and he later studied at Chingizid Sofi Sultan Khalil.
Bakhauddin belonged to a community that rejected asceticism and was involved in household matters.
Bakhauddin Nakshbandi got his recognition after a pilgrimage to Haj that lasted three years.
Sheikh Bakhauddin Nakshbandi was one of the spiritual masters of Amir Timur. Worshiping at his tomb was equivalent to performing Haj in Mekka at the time.This was the position of a sheikh in the Islamic world.
The memorial complex of Bakhauddin Nakshbandi was constructed over three centuries. Beginning of construction related to the 16th century. The complex has a courtyard of right-angled form and a tomb of the sheikh.
A memorial mosque that was built in the 19th century is located there. Through the length of the courtyard, there is an aivan on wooden pillars.
Besides the Sheikh’s grave in the courtyard, there is a necropolis of Iskander Khan and his son Abdulla Khan II.
The most upscale building in the memorial complex is Khanaka, which was named in honor of Sheybanid Abdulaziz Khan.
In the 80th, the memorial complex of Bakhauddin Nakshbandi was reconstructed.
Nowadays, the complex consists of the mosques of Kushbegi and Muzafarohana, a courtyard with a pool, a madrasah, a burial vault of Bukhara rulers and a dakhma upon the tomb of Saint Bakhauddin Nakshbandi.
