Chor-Minor Madrasah
Madrasah Chor-Minor is located in the northeast part of Bukhara. There are four minarets, which symbolize the four sides of the earth.
It was built in 1807 with the support of a tradesman, Turkman Halif Niyazkul Bek.
The main terms for architecture were the following:
- All parts of the building should clearly demonstrate that all parts of the earth are equal.
- Madrasah should definitely be on the Silk Road so that Turkmen travelers can stop there.
Each tower was decorated with the original coating and had its own form. The Christian crest and Buddhist praying wheels were also used in the decorations of the minarets.
The blue dome combines all the minarets together while personifying God and heaven.
The interior of the dome and walls contains a variety of religious statements. They were all written in Arabic.
Student rooms were on the first floor of Madrasah Chor Minor, and a library with valuable documents and handwriting was on the second floor.
Alas, the madrasah was partly preserved until our days: there is only the front portal and four towers with partial decorations and writings.
