Zangi - Ota memorial complex

One of the famous places in Tashkent is a complex Zangi - Ota. He is known as a place for visiting pilgrims. In the 13th century, Sheikh Ai- Hodge with his wife Bibi-Anbar were buried here and after the death complex was completed.

Ai- Hodge is also called Zangiata, which means "Black". Sheikh was born in the family of Sufis (followers of Tariqa One of the branches of Sufism).
According to legend, Zangi-Oota was a shepherd and distinguished for his wisdom and good deeds. In addition, he was considered as a spiritual guide, to resolve conflicts and quarrels, instructed in the faith and healed the sick. Therefore, he is called a saint. His life and fate were recorded in history from different sources, and they differ slightly in his narrative.

Mausoleum of Sheikh Ai Khodja ibn Mansur ibn Taj Khoja located in the eponymous village of Zangi - Ota. It is about 15 km from Tashkent in the direction of the famous city of Samarkand. Zangi - Ota arose in troubled times when dominated infighting, the Mongol invasion, the robbers robbed the caravans on the road and killed travellers. While the sheikhs changed as often as you can only imagine.

Amir Timur ordered the Building of Memorial Complex Zangi - Ota during the reign of Maverannahr. At the first glance of the complex Zangi - Ota, you can see the architectural style of the era of Amir Timur and Timurid.

The entrance is decorated with ornaments of glazed mosaic round grey domes. The main building is the mausoleum – the tomb of Zangiata. There is also a mosque, a madrassa (built in the 18th century), and a minaret (erected in the 20th century).

On the one side of the courtyard, where complex Zangi - Ota situated was built aivan with carved columns. Its ceiling and walls are decorated with paintings and carvings in traditional oriental style.

Every year the faithful come here and make offerings as cakes, tea, white fabric and products for cooking pilaf, with wishes of love and happiness to his home.

The tomb of the wife of Sheikh - Saint-Anbar Bibi is situated near the mausoleum. Many women come here to ask for the intercession.

Memorial Complex Zangi - Ota looks very "exotic". Its walls are not adjacent to the new hotel; however, touch on a very old construction of residential houses. In meadows, still graze goats and cows.

Thus, this place attracts tourists. Only here you can feel the spirit of antiquity and visit the undressed provincial atmosphere of everyday life.
