Alay Dekhan Bazaar
Alay Dekhan Bazaar (Farmers Bazaar) is one of the old bazaars of Tashkent. Its name came from the name of the mountain “Alay”. The history of the Bazaar starts from ancient times when trading still existed and passed along the Great Silk Road.
Silk Road itself and trading took over at the vicinity of Alay Mountain. It was a very comfortable place for the meeting of tradespeople and consumers. Various spices, silks, ceramic and pottery works, fruits and vegetables were sold there.

After a while, people developed towns around this place. Year by year, the town grew and widened. Seems, not the bazaar arose in the city, but the modern Tashkent was born thanks to the bazaar.
In 1950th, for the better development of the trade – The municipality started at the Alay Dekhan Bazaar to allocate special lands for the construction of stands and kiosks from the white bricks.

In a period of Independence of Uzbekistan, Alay Dekhan Bazaar was reconstructed. Its central entrance was decorated with a beautiful arch and the bazaar was divided into several parts. The first part is dedicated to small shops of pieces of jewellery. The second part consists of fruits and vegetables. Then, the bazaar is sort of broadening. Next, there are two-storeyed buildings with shops. Here is everything to purchase starting from magazines and smoked foods and ending with milk foods and mobile phones.
Once there was a clothes market in the Bazaar, but in 2011 it was closed.
