The Madrasah of Abdulkasim Sheikh

What a beautiful building. It is holy, like a paradise.
Because the Prophet's venerable hair is kept here,
Proud of that, he writes the story of his world...

The Madrasah of Abdulkasim Sheikh was built in Tashkent in the 16th century in honor of the Sheikh and thinker Abulkasim. From the very beginning, it was a memorial complex with a madrasah, a mosque, and a bath with 20 hudzhuras and had only one floor. In 1864, when the madrasah was reconstructed.

The place where the madrassah of Abdulkasim was built is located in the center and is called the old Mahalla. It was built in the southern part of the old city of Tashkent, near the gates of the former Beshagach. The Madrasah was built in the same complex as the Mausoleum, Honakoyi Muy Muborak.

In 2002, the top part of the madrasah of Abdulkasim Sheikh was restored. From the entrance to the rooms of students, walls are painted with great quotes and verses from the Koran, which have not only historical, but also educational value.

The quatrains in Tajik, written in the style of nastalik in honor of the madrasah, were restored on the walls of the rooms. Here is a little part of the poem:

What a beautiful building. It is holy, like a paradise.
Because the Prophet is venerable, hair is kept here,
Proud of that, he writes the story of his world...

Besides quotations from the Koran on the walls, there are also poems. In one poem, the year of construction of the great monument (1849) is encrypted.

There is one mysterious legend in the history of the madrasah and the governor... During Abdulkasym Sheikh's period, the city collapsed from cholera. Many people died. At one point, during namaz, the sheikh told the people that he took the trouble of the city. That night he was gone, and the next day, cholera left the city...
