The Samarkand Museum of History and Art of the Uzbek People

The Samarkand Museum of History and Art of the Uzbek People was built in 1896. The museum is located in Registan Square.

The museum exposition includes more than 200 thousand exhibits of ethnography, historical documents, numismatics, archeology, etc. Generally, they represent the history and culture of the country during the 20th century.
Visitors can see the wedding suits of the 19th and 20th centuries, wandering Muslim ascetic and pilgrim costumes, veils, and many other types of clothing that have been worn in Uzbekistan.

The collection of the Samarkand Museum includes ancient coins, sculptures of the Buddhist temple-Kue, and armor of Saks soldiers dating from the 6th century. There are patterns of mural paintings from the palaces of the Bukhara Governors and Samarkand and a few pages of an 11th century Holy Koran.
