The Mausoleum of Dakhma-i-Shakhon

Kokand is very rich in its architectural monuments and historical places. The historical tour of the city includes the Mausoleum of Dakhma-i-Shakhon, which was built in the 19th century. This is the tomb of the khans of Kokand, which was built during the reign of Umarkhan.

There were no special attacks, conquests, or wars during the reign of Umarkhan. That time is considered calm, and the governor was seriously engaged in the construction of monuments.
Many great structures were built during this period. At the time, poetry, architecture, and applied arts were at their pinnacles. The memorial complex, which you can visit by ordering a historical tour to Uzbekistan, includes the mosque, the family cemetery, and a domed room with the main entrance to the complex.

A fence surrounds the Mausoleum of Dakhma-i-Shakhon. The aivans, where people read prayers, were located here.It has survived several graves, including the place where Umarkhan was buried.

The facade of the Umarkhan mausoleum is similar in its design to that of the painted Bolo House mosque, which is located in Bukhara. The same match is also present in the decoration of the summer terrace with columns.

The upper part of the tomb was like a Fergana fabric of bekasam. The tomb's entrance doors are adorned with Koranic inscriptions (in Arabic), lines from Umarkhan's poetry, and two-layer woodcarving.

In 1971, national masters of Arts and crafts and famous architects renovated the tomb completely. Its total area is about 9.4 x 11.0.7 meters.

Many fruit trees were planted around the tomb. Every spring, trees bloom and delight everyone with their cool shade, freshness, and beauty.
