Jahongir Mausoleum
The Jahongir Mausoleum is a remarkable historical monument located in the southeastern part of Shahrisabs. It was built in the 14th and 15th centuries.
This mausoleum, as well as other monuments of the city, are part of the historic tour of Uzbekistan. It was built especially for the eldest son of Amir Temur, who died in battle when he was 20 years old. His name was Jahangir.

The complex was in contact with an entire part of the great ensemble Dorus-Saodat. The ensemble Dorus Saodat was intended for all Timurids dynasty.
If you order a historical tour of the mausoleum, you will learn that the "storage of power", as Dorus Saodat translated it, before the Shaybanid army of Abdullakhan II, included three buildings, destroyed it: the mosque of Xazri Imam, Temur crypt, and Jahongir mausoleum.
When the son died, the ruler mourned for a long time (many say that his grief lasted for 30 years). Jahongir’s body was moved from Samarkand to Shakhrisabz, and three years later, his burial place was built into a mausoleum, named after him.
The memorial complex is very beautiful and elegant. It is a slender construction with the features of a quadratic prism shape and a dome in the shape of a cone. Zierathona is situated before entering the mausoleum of Jahongir.
The guide, in his historical tours, tells us that the dome that adorns the mausoleum has not only a tapered shape, but also a tree dome construction. A beautifully decorated dome is located at the bottom. The middle dome was relieving. The outer dome is mounted on a multi-faceted drum.
These domes were very popular in Khorezm at that time.
The decoration of the Jahongir mausoleum stands out for its calculated ornamental character with numerous mosaic inserts, majolica, and, of course, the glazed brick.
