Sarazm's Settlement

Sarazm, an ancient settlement that arose in the 4–4th century BC, established settlements near Tajikistan's ancient city of Penjikent.

During the excavation of the village of Sarazm, archeologists found quite a number of pottery, tools, and articles of gold, silver, and copper, which is the same as the village dates back to 2-4 millennium BC.
The village occupies a land area of 100 hectares.

Sarazm is considered a large-scale center for metallurgy in Central Asia. Archaeologists found not only pottery but also metal products, hammers for crushing rocks, as well as fishing hooks with jewelry.

An unnamed palace complex that was once erected in the village had several hundred square meters. To this day, it is preserved in quite good condition.

Travelers have an opportunity to see a few rooms of the palace, as well as a corridor and a different room. The entire building was connected by numerous corridors with high ceilings and small windows for ventilation and lighting.

According to the scientists' supposition, various cultic rites were performed there.
