Kulyab

Kulyab is a small town that has settled in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan.

The ancient city of Tajikistan, which is close to the capital, is mentioned in chronicles dating back to the 13th century.

Kulyab in Tajik means "lake water" or "thicket".
In the city's more than 2,700 year history of development, there have been many interesting and memorable events.

The city grew and developed along with handicraft art. During the period of its existence, the Tajik city opened a large number of craft workshops related to the pottery and jewelry business, joinery, and weaving.

In 1934, Kulyab was granted city status.

Kulyab, to this day, is famous for its embroidery, which has its own style and diversity of colors.

Unfortunately, only the ruins of some madrasas and the mausoleum of Mir Said Alii Hamadoni have survived nowadays.
