Dzhezkazgan

Dzhezkazgan is an ancient town in Kazakhstan. It originated in 1771 near the small village of Bekbolat and includes a historical tour of Kazakhstan.

The ancient city of Kazakhstan owes its appearance to Kanysh Satpaev.

Kanysh Satpayev was a Soviet geologist, academic, social activist, and organizer of science. He was one of the founders of Soviet metallogenic science and the founder of Kazakhstan’s school of metallogeny.

In 1929, Kanysh Satpayev decided to build the capital of copper. Since there were not enough resources and space for the processing of local ore reserves, it was decided to erect a powerful factory, which was located near the river Kengir.

In the autumn of 1937, the railway road connected the station with Saken Dzhezkazgan. At this location, a whole city of metallurgists grew, connecting Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Karaganda with other cities in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Thus, it combined three large-scale spaces: Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, and Karaganda.

At the same time, the NKVD coordinated the location of all political prisoner camps. They take part in the main building brick factory and the village.

The volunteers came for the construction of mines and cities from all over Kazakhstan. The city began to grow and to transform right in front of the people.

Over time, "Dzhezkazgan" was renamed "Zhezkazgan." Museums, the central square, sanatoriums, and recreation centers were built as a result of the steelmakers who lived and settled in the city. All these facilities are included in the historical tour of the city of Kazakhstan.

The ancient city of Zhezkazgan is located not far from the Kengir reservoir. By the way, the world-famous Baikonur commodore was built behind the city on the western part of Kazakhstan.
