Aktau

The capital of Mangashlik, which is rich with minerals, is the city known as Aktau (Shevchenko).

According to the landscape, this city in Kazakhstan is not inferior to the cities that are located on the Black Sea Coast of the Caucasus.

Furthermore, there are ongoing excavations around Kyzyl-Kala city. The first mention of the ancient city is dated 10–12 centuries.

There is one more site close to the city: Fort Shevchenko. It was built in 1846 and served as a part of the military fortifications of Novopetrovskoye. Later, after two decades, it was renamed as Fort Alexander. There are museums, galleries of art, and many interesting places included in historical tours of Aktau.
