Namangan

A historical tour of Uzbekistan includes sightseeing of the surroundings of a small town called Namangan.
Namangan was built in the eastern part of Uzbekistan, and today it is home to more than 432,000 people.

Namangan is considered the administrative center of the Namangan region, with a total area of 7, 44 thousand square kilometers.

The history of Namangan goes back more than 400 years. This ancient city was erected in 1610 on the site of the settlement of Namangankan (salt mines). The city took its name from the name of the mines.

Namangan became the second largest city by population in approximately 18–20 centuries. The construction of Khoja Amin Karbi's mausoleum and the Mullah-Kirghiz madrassah began at this time.

The Mausoleum of Khoja Amin Kabri includes madrassas with honako, an aivan in the courtyard of the mosque, and the main memorial mosque. However, to this day, the mausoleum is in poor condition.

The Madrassas of Mullah-Kirghiz were erected in the center of Namangan. According to its plan, the madrasah has five sides, which were equipped with hudjras (rooms for students).

Due to the land on which the madrasah was to be constructed, it was decided to construct a madrasah in this form. You can see the lights of the minaret from the depths of the madrassas’ yard.

The madrasah was decorated with beautiful colors. There are such colors as yellow, white, blue, and green. Inscriptions were lined up with burned bricks.

Another architectural monument of Uzbekistan, which was erected in the 20th century, is the madrassas of Ota-Valikhon Tura, which is part of the historic tour of Namangan.

Ota-Valikhon Tarrah is located near the Ota-Valikhon Tarrah mosque.
Rectangular madrassas attract the views of tourists and stand out for their towers and brickwork.

There are ruins of the ancient Aksikent city not far from the city. The town consisted of strong and high walls and a citadel with an area of over 30 hectares.

By the way, until the 13th century, the city was considered the capital of the Fergana Valley. Sometime later, the city was destroyed in numerous wars...
