Andijan's Jami Complex

Tours to the historical cities of Uzbekistan are rich in abundance. An excursion to the historic city of Andijan will lead guests to a famous complex called Jami, which is the main tourist attraction of the city.

The memorial Jami complex includes a madrasah, a minaret and a mosque. Construction of this architectural monument lasted seven years and ended in 1890.

The memorial Jami complex stands out among other buildings by its size and color variety in decoration and design. It is considered one of the largest buildings in the whole of Central Asia and in the Ferghana Valley. Therefore, this building attracts crowds of tourists. Everyone wants to visit this historic place and order an excursion.

According to the rules of Islam, the central facade of the building faces east. Masters of Arts and crafts worked on the design of the complex, and it was decorated in the traditional style of Fergana.

Padzhara also serves as decoration. Padzhara is a wood lattice with geometric designs.

Woodcarving made in the Fergana art style, the front of the dome and portal as a mosaic in sky blue and blue attracts admiring glances of visitors.

Buildings for training were constructed in the building's corners, and cells for students, known as huzhry at the time, were located between the main training rooms.

The original plan of the memorial complex for Jami had the shape of the letter "U," but after a while, buildings began to collapse, and nothing was left from the south and the north wing.

Thanks to tours of the historic city, including the Jami complex, visitors can learn that Jumi madrasah and Mosque Jama are not only of historical value, but architectural too.

In the western part of the complex, a Friday mosque with a rectangular shape was built. All sides of the mosque (except the central one) have aivans with wooden columns. Wooden columns were decorated with carvings made by professional artists.

The ceiling of Juma Mosque was decorated with paintings of different patterns with floral and geometric designs. You can see this by ordering a tourist excursion to Uzbekistan.

Scientists determined that in the early 20th century, the main entrance of the mosque and walls were decorated with patterns of majolica and sacred words from the Koran. Unfortunately, nothing is left from these texts and drawings.

The minaret, which is situated in the memorial complex of Jami, reaches more than 30 meters. It has one of the highest minarets in the Fergana Valley.

The minaret was decorated with an unusual decoration for those times. Exterior decorations were made in the form of medallions, inside which were stamped words from the Koran in Arabic.

The total area of the memorial complex Jami was about 1.5 hectares, and even after a powerful earthquake in Andijan, after which many attractions and historical monuments were destroyed, this complex was preserved.

Today, we partially saved the park that surrounds the memorial complex and the pond, which was built before the minaret.
