Osh

Osh is the second-largest city in the Kyrgyz Republic.

This city is shrouded in mystery and legends. Scientists have established that the city is more than 1,000 years old, and archaeologists were able to prove that life in this area began more than 3,000 years ago.

 

Ministers of various religious cults are still trying to connect the appearance of the city with the legends that are associated with it. However, they did not succeed in doing it.

An interesting legend related to the famous mountain of Sulaiman-Too, which is located near the city, it is believed that the mountain has the power to heal. According to one legend, a woman came to the mountain to ask about the baby. She had to pass the "test path" to get it. According to legend, if she were wrong, she would not be able to do it, but she coped, and when she returned to her husband, they had a baby after some time.

On the slope of the Suleiman-Too mountain are situated a large number of ancient temples and mausoleums with mosques.

The city has such tourist attractions as the Museum of "The Great Silk Road". The exhibition at the museum tells visitors about the development of the material world of the Kyrgyz people from ancient times until today. In total, there are exhibits by ethnographers, historians, scientists, and archeologists.

The Kurmanjan Datca monument was built in the center of Bishkek. Her portrait was depicted on a 50-som banknote. This "Queen of the South" is known for standing against the Russian conquest.
