Naryn

Naryn is a small town in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, which is located near the border with China.

Naryn first appeared at the times of the Great Silk Road. It was on the trade routes that passed from Central Asia towards East Turkestan. To this day, it preserves many nameless architectural monuments that have national importance.

Initially, Naryn was a small but significant settlement, and only in the 19th century did it gain the status of a city when this Russian garrison was placed here.

The number of local residents does not exceed the mark of more than 80,000 people. But at the same time, the city is very popular in the trade sphere.

Mountains, beautiful landscapes, green forests, and meadows with small ponds surround the Naryn River.

The air temperature here is mostly minus degrees. It is considered one of the coldest cities in Kyrgyzstan. In winter, temperatures drop to - 40 degrees Celsius. Winters are harsh and snowy.

Not far from the town is the famous Son-Kul Lake, which is translated from Kyrgyz as "Last Lake."

Son-Kul Lake is the second largest lake in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan by size. It is located at 3.016 meters high above sea level and has the following dimensions: 18 km wide and 29 km long. The depth of the lake is equal to 13.2 meters.

Approximately 200 days per year, the Son-Kul Lake is covered with ice and snow. In winter, it is simply impossible to reach, and in summer, bathe. The water temperature does not exceed a level of 10 degrees Celsius.

During the summer, on the green meadows that surround the lake, you can observe numerous yurts of nomads who lead their cattle here.

This place attracts tourists and photographers for its beautiful landscapes that are beautiful at any time of the year, as well as its rich flora and rare species of animals that live here.

In 1975, Naryn Reserve was opened here. The total area of the reserve is more than 100,000 hectares. This reserve is notable because here you can see a rare species of deer called the Maral. These deer live in the foothills of the Tian Shan.

In the reserve is also a nursery, where deer are bred, and when they grow up, they let them go free.
