Ak-beshim ancient settlement

It is located near Tower Buran, the once famous Ak-Beshim ancient settlement.

Suyab was the name given to Ak-Beshim's ancient settlement at first. It was erected in the 6th and 7th centuries and is the economic and cultural center of the valley.

The town consisted of a large-scale territory, which had been divided into several parts. For instance, 35 hectares of land are allocated to the citadel, and 60 acres to the handicraft suburb. In addition, in total, that is not the overall territory of the ancient city.

The ancient settlement of Ak-Beshim had been guarded from invaders by high walls. Not only are mosques and churches located inside the city, but palatial buildings with Buddhist temples and residential areas were also established.

Archaeologists suggest that the ancient settlement of Ak-Beshim is the foundation of the Balasagun, which, whilst development, "drifted" into the eastern side of the state.
