Dashoguz

Dashoguz is in the north of the Republic of Turkmenistan. Dashoguz's population totals 210 thousand residents.

 

Its historical names are considered Tashauz or Dashkhovuz. The current name of the ancient city of Dashoguz comes from the Turkic language and translates as "Oguz Blonde."

The ancient city of Dashoguz was founded in 1681. Initially, it was considered a caravanserai, where the merchants and their families stayed.

The sight of this place is the ancient city of Kunya-Urgench.

Kunya Urgench is the old capital of Northern Khorezm, which is a historical and architectural reserve, as here until today a lot of ancient landmarks could be saved. They tell visitors about the history and progress of the city.

Kunya Urgench is mentioned in ancient manuscripts, dating from the 1st century AD, as the monuments of Kunya Urgench, just like the ancient settlement, are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
