Bishkek

Bishkek is the capital of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. More than one million people live in this big city in Kyrgyzstan.

 

A settlement of primitive people, which dates back to the 4th-5th century BC, was found near the town. At that time, the city stood at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road. The caravan-serai of one of the Turkic tribes named Solto is located at the heart of a small town.

In addition, scientists and archaeologists revealed that about 12–13 centuries ago, an ancient city called Julie was founded on this spot, which was destroyed in the 16th century.

Then, in the place of this city was built a fortress called Pishpek. It happened in 1825. The fortress stood in the way of the Great Silk Road and served as protection for the merchants who came from India and Europe.

After the battle with the soldiers of the Russian Empire, the castle was destroyed. A small village was almost unsociable, and only with the advent of the Soviet Union did it begin to develop and expand.

In 1926, the village was renamed in honor of assistant and commander Mikhail Frunze, who did a lot for people. In 1991, the city was renamed Bishkek. The capital has saved this name until today.
